Odododiodioo MP commends President, Kufuor for meeting

Accra, Mar 1, GNA – The Member of Parliament for Odododiodioo, Mr. Jonathan Nii Tackie Komme, has commended the President, Professor John Evan= s Atta Mills for his meeting with his predecessor, Mr. John Agyekum Kufuor, a= t the Castle recently.

He noted that the meeting at the invitation of President Mills was unprecedented in the country’s history and said 93The show of unity at t= he highest hierarchy of the political divide on national issues was a good sig= n for the development of democracy and unity”. Mr. Tackie Komme who was speaking to the Ghana News Agency in Accra on Monday stated that national issues such as development, unity, peace and stability should not compromised for partisan political consideration. He noted that Ghanaians were one people with a common national interes= t irrespective of their political affiliation and said they should therefore tolerate each other without beating the war drums, which could throw the country into a state of anarchy.

The Odododiodioo MP praised President Atta Mills and former President Kufuor for their foresight and expressed the hope that the meeting was the beginning of future consultation between the Head of State and former ones to tap their experience for national development and cohesion. He said the meeting clearly showed that President Atta Mills was a statesman who knew what he was about and prepared to unify the country. The Parliamentarian recalled the statement by the President during the campaign period for the 2008 elections that he was not going to hesitate to consult his predecessors on issues of national interest if he won the election. Mr. Tackie Komme called on Ghanaians irrespective of their political affiliation to unite solidly behind the President for the success of the “Better Ghana Agenda”.

Mr Kufuor speaking to newsmen after the meeting said he discussed matters of mutual national and international concern with President Atta Mills.
