NPP victory will be in the interest of NDC-Hammond

Nsokote (Ash), Sept. 27, GNA – The Deputy Minister of Energy, Mr K.T. Hammond, has said the New Patriotic Party (NPP) victory in the December elections “will be in the interest of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

According to him, the victory would enable the NDC to sit up and re-organise its structures to enable the party to become a properly democratic political party in the country.

Mr Hammond, who is the Member of Parliament (MP) for Adansi-Asokwa, was addressing a mini durbar of chiefs and people at Nsokote as part of his tour of some communities in his constituency. Some of the communities visited included Anomabo, Anomabo-Gardenmu, Sackitey and Appiah-Nkwanta.

“NPP should win the elections. And that will be in the interest of the NDC since it will force them to sit up and re-organise their structures to make it a properly democratic opposition party in 2008”, he stressed.

The MP further called on the NDC to conserve their resources and energy for the 2008 general elections.

“It is very clear, the signs are there on the walls that NPP has won the 2004 elections”, Mr Hammond said.

Mr Hammond said it was only the government of the NPP that could lead the country to regain its past image.

The Deputy Minister asked the people to give President Kufuor another four-year term by voting massively for the NPP in both the parliamentary and presidential elections.

Mr Hammond encouraged them to be resolute in condemning politics of lies in the area.

Nana P.K. Agyare, the Odikro of Nsokote, said as a result of the good works of the government and that of the NPP, the area had seen much development.
