Among the three candidates contesting the New Patriotic Party flagbearer slot, Alan Kyerematen believes he has the “best track record” both home and abroad.
The former Trades Minister is contesting favourite, Nana Akufo-Addo, and a legislator Francis Addai Nimoh.
Alan ‘Cash’, as he is affectionately called, opined if delegates were to use record as a yardstick to vote, none of the contestants come near him. About 140,000 delegates will be voting on October 18 to elect a flagbearer for the 2016 elections.
Kyerematen argued that “when people want to contest for positions, I think what voters need to do is to find out what their record is.”
He added: “We have to separate ambition from ability and the fact that you want to be President. We all have ambitions but the issue is not about your ambition, it is about your capacity and your ability and that ability must be based on your record.”
Speaking to a cross section of NPP delegates, the former Ghana ambassador to the US noted: “I cannot talk about others but at least in all humility my record is clear. Whether it is in Ghana, or whether is in Africa or internationally.”
“This campaign is about the NPP, is not about Alan wanting to be a President. It is not a personal ambition. This campaign is not about me, it is about Ghana.”
