NPP National Officer and Council Member calls for peaceful primaries ahead of 2028 election

Dr. Kwasi Nyame-Baafi, NPP National Officer and Council Member, has expressed strong optimism that the party can return to power and garners a majority parliamentary seat in 2028 if it rebuilds internal unity and works with discipline and focus.

As the NPP presidential and parliamentary primaries approach, Dr. Nyame-Baafi emphasized the need for peaceful primaries, describing both contests as an internal affair that requires avoiding defaming utterances, calling an end to internal divisions, and factionalism.

The National Deputy Director for Research revealed that the New Patriotic Party’s decision to grant amnesty to all members who were suspended or had disciplinary cases pending is part of a broader strategy to win the 2028 election.

He told Kaakyire Kwasi Afari of Sunyani-based Ark fm that the measure aims to promote unity and reconciliation as the party prepares for future political activities.

Dr. Nyame-Baafi made this appeal during an engagement with assembly members at Penkwasi, a suburb in Sunyani East constituency in the Bono Region on 24th August 2025 to preach peace and unity and encouraged them to prioritize NPP interests.

As a gesture of goodwill, he donated two boxes of streetlights to the assembly members for installation, aiming to address the area’s streetlight challenges.

Some assembly members who spoke to Kaakyire Kwasi Afari thanked the National Officer for the generous donation.

They indicated that the bulbs would help address security challenges, particularly darkness at night, in their electoral area.

They pointed out that malfunctioning street bulbs remain a major concern in Sunyani and his electoral area at large; hence, the donation has brought some relief to their plight.
