The New Patriotic Party is preparing to hold Presidential Primaries to select a candidate to lead the party in the upcoming 2028 general elections.
In a conversation with Mr. Eric Kwabena Yeboah, also known as Sir Newton, who serves as a member of the NPP Communication Team in the Dormaa Central Constituency, he expressed that all individuals who have submitted their nomination forms for the primaries are qualified to contest and possess commendable leadership qualities. However, he emphasized that Honorable Kennedy Agyapong stands out among the other candidates and should be entrusted with the mandate to lead the party towards securing victory in the 2028 general elections.
He conducted an analysis of the electoral trends in Ghana, observing that Ghanaians might be reluctant to elect another individual from the northern region following the tenure of President Mahama, who is from the northern part of the country. He noted that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has damaged the reputation of President Akufo Addo and his associates, making it politically challenging for any member of the Akufo Addo administration to achieve electoral success smoothly. He contended that the nation is progressing towards industrialization, and the most suitable candidate to advance this agenda is Kennedy Agyapong, who is renowned for his exceptional business acumen. He emphasized that all indicators favor Kennedy Agyapong to lead the party and ultimately secure victory for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the general election.
Mr. Eric Kwabena Yeboah also encouraged party members to refrain from engaging in politics characterized by insults and to focus their discussions on the achievements and potential contributions their prospective candidate can offer to the Party and the people of Ghana if granted the mandate to lead as the flagbearer. He emphasized that regardless of the outcome of the primaries, it is essential for all party members to unite and support the selected candidate in the pursuit of victory in the general elections. Therefore, it is crucial for the supporters of the aspiring candidates to exercise caution in the messages they convey to prevent internal conflicts after the primaries.
