NPP Bono Regional Chairman Abronye arrested

The Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye, has been arrested by police.

Details surrounding the reasons for his arrest remain unclear.

Abronye, known for his outspoken political stance, made headlines last week after formally requesting political asylum in eight countries, including Côte d’Ivoire, the United States, France, Italy, Canada, Spain, the United Kingdom, and Germany.

In his request, he cited what he described as “consistent, escalating political persecution, threats to my life, and systemic abuse of state security powers by the current Government of Ghana” as grounds for seeking international protection.

Meanwhile, armed police officers reportedly searched the residence of former NPP Youth Organiser, Moses Abor, on Sunday in connection with the case but did not find Abronye there.
