Northern Regional Minister’s village flooded

Janga, (N/R), Aug 16, GNA – Three days of torrential rains in the Janga community of the West Mamprusi District has flooded the area with over 100

houses submerged in water and several people displaced. Farm lands, roads, places of worship, including the house of Mr. Stephen Sumani Nayina, the Northern Regional Minister, were submerged in water. Mr. Joseph Dasana, the Regional Coordinating Director, and Mr. Zakaria Sulley Abudu Lord, District Chief Executive for West Mamprusi, visited the place

to assess the situation. Na Tuma Saaka Sumani, Chief of Janga, said the community had been having sleepless nights for three days following persistent rains. He said it was regrettable that people choose to build on waterways despite warnings from authorities that it was dangerous to do so. He appealed to the government to come to the aid of the people and alleviate their plight.
