No panties, pads were removed in exam searches – WAEC

The West African Examination Council has downplayed claims by female students from the OLA Girls Senior High School in the Bono Ahafo Region that they are subjected to all kinds of humiliation by their exams officials.

They claim they are asked to strip in the full glare of male invigilators.

Others are reportedly also being asked to remove their panties and sanitary pads in the searching process.

But WAEC says the reports are exaggerated.

Agnes Tei-Cudjoe who is head of public affairs at WAEC told XYZ News, “I heard of the report and think the students are just exaggerating. I don’t think that any female teacher will go out to fondle the breast of students”.

But child protection activist, Shadrach Frimpong disagrees. He tells XYZ News, the reports shouldn’t be taken lightly.

Mr. Frimpong wants an investigation to be launched into the reports.
