Ninety-one Police recruits pass out

Accra, Sept. 19, GNA – Ninety-one Police recruits, including one male passed out on Friday with a call on them to let discipline be their watchword in their dealings with the public.

“The exigency of the service would have its toil on you as new recruits but with discipline you would prevail.”

Mrs Elizabeth Mills-Robertson, Deputy Inspector General of Police said this at a passing-out parade for the new officers who are to beef the human resource capacity of the service.

She said it was important for the recruits who are mainly females to work extra hard to justify their presence in a male dominated terrain.

She urged them to improve upon their knowledge and academic standards and impart their knowledge to the various communities where they would be posted.

Mrs Mills-Robertson noted that the new democratic dispensation enjoins officers to respect human rights of the citizenry in order to gain public trust which would facilitate their work.

She declarded: ” The Service would not condone acts that may bring its image into disrepute and you must avoid it.”

She noted that police administration was prepared to work with law abiding citizens to maintain law and order.

Charity Nana Owusu was adjudged the overall best recruit and she was awarded with a baton of honour.

The parade was interspersed with colourful marching with the Police Band providing brass band music.

The Deputy Police Chief also reviewed the parade which was commandeered by Assistant Superintendent of Police D .O Lamptey.
