NGO presents medical equipment to Sampa Hospital

Changing Lives Together (CTL), a United States -based Christian non-governmental organisation, has presented medical equipment to Sampa Government Hospital in the Jaman North District of the Brong-Ahafo Region.

The set of theatre equipment comprised anesthesia machine, operating table, operating lamp, electrocardiography machine, suction machine and an electro-cautery.

Mr Kwame Osei-Opoku, the Project Manager of the CLT Ghana, said the organisation is poised to ensure that development thrives in the district.

He said it is partnering with Engineers Without Borders, an organisation in the US to construct a solar lighting project for the Sumanman Senior High School at Suma-Ahenkro, which is expected to be completed in 2016.

Mr Osei-Opoku said the NGO had also collaborated with the New Life Community Church in California to build four classroom blocks for the school.

He disclosed that last year his organisation provided the hospital with an electrocardiography machine and two baby incubators.

Dr Emmanuel Teviu, the Medical Superintendent of the hospital, noted that shortfall in infrastructure continues to hinder efforts to delivering quality healthcare services to the people.

He said the facility lacks an X-ray machine and other operating equipment, adding because of this patients with minor cases are referred to the Drobo Government Hospital in the Jaman South District.

Dr Teviu thanked the CLT the continuous support to the hospital, and expressed optimism that the collaboration between the two institutions would be strengthened.
