NGO presents assorted books to Nungua SSS

Nungua (G/A), Dec. 31, GNA- An American NGO, which promotes Information Technology in Africa on Wednesday presented assorted books worth 13,000 dollars to the Nungua Senior Secondary School (SSS) at a short ceremony at Nungua near Accra.

Mr William E. Sam, Executive Director of the American Educational Programme for Africa, the NGO, who made the presentation said it is their aim to help improve the fallen educational standards in Africa particularly in Ghana.

He explained that the NGO shipped 75,000 dollars worth of books to Ghana for distribution to Nungua SSS, University of Ghana, Legon, Ghana National College and the University of Cape Coast.

Mr Sam said to promote information technology in Ghana the NGO will soon take delivery of about 200 computers for schools in Ghana. He, however, expressed concern about clearance of the books.

Mr Amos Mackin, Headmaster of the school and her assistant, Ms Kate Bannerman who received the books expressed their gratitude to the NGO. They also commended Miss Aileen Appiah-Conteh, a board member of the NGO and a former student of the school through whom the school received the books.
