Takoradi, 27 Aug, GNA – Mr Samuel Okudjato Ablakwah, Deputy Minister of Information, gave the assurance that Government would not criminalize free speech in the country.
He said that Ghanaians would not be prevented from expressing their concerns about Government no matter how negative they might be.
Mr Ablakwah, who was interacting with journalists in Takoradi on Thursday,
said that Government was on track and would remain committed to good governance.
He said Government would ensure that Junior High School leavers pursue Secondary High School education without any impediments.
Mr Ablakwah said additional classroom blocks were being constructed throughout the country to solve the problem of inadequate classrooms.
He indicated that Government was determined to improve education in the country as demonstrated by the supply of school uniforms and text books free of charge to school children country-wide.
Mr Ablakwah said funds were being sourced to repair deplorable roads as well as the rail lines in the Western Region to facilitate economic activities.
He said preliminary designs were almost completed for the expansion and transformation of the Takoradi Port into a modern facility to meet demands of an Oil and gas industry.
Mr Ablakwah asked oil companies to construct more fuel storage facilities to ensure continuous supply of Liquefied Petroleum Gas.
Mr Ablakwa said Ghanaians already employed in the oil and gas sector would be trained on the job.
Concerning the call to employ majority of Ghanaians in the industry, he called on the people to acquire sills and technology to enable them to gain employment in the sector.
