Communications Director of the NPP, Nana Akomea believes gradually the ruling National Democratic Congress [NDC] is taking Ghana back to the “military regime” by ex-President Jerry Rawlings where citizens freedom was unsure after addressing government issues.
According to him, the recent everyday arrest by the Bureau of National Investigations [BNI] is “unfortunate” and putting the electorates into a state of ‘panic’ to address state issues.
“Ghanaians must add their voices on what is going on now. What is going on is very serious. This NDC government is sending us back to the military regime where government in power can do whatever they like,” he said.
His comment comes after the Managing Director and security officers of a quarry firm called Granite and Marble located on the Spintex Road in Accra were arrested by the BNI for allegedly taking pictures of some vehicles which were being branded with NDC colours for the National Commission on Civic Education (NCCE).
Dr. Ani was alleged to have leaked pictures of the said vehicles on social media which went viral – The vehicles, 50 Mahindra 4×4 vehicles were being rebranded at a mechanic shop near the MD’s office on the Spintex road.
Some Ghanaians have already begun accusing the ruling government of abusing its incumbency and using state resources to procure the vehicles for campaign purposes ahead of the November 7 polls.
Speaking on the issue on NEAT FM’s morning show ‘Ghana Montie,’ Nana Akomea quizzed that – “If indeed the NDC used their own money to purchase those cars and branding them to advertise President Mahama, what is wrong with that if someone is helping them to advertise the president with those pictures? Will those cars remain in their rooms?”
“If truly the NDC used their own money for the vehicles, why must they arrest the man? Why did they relocate the cars at dawn after the pictures went viral? He asked.
