NDC polls: Portuphy branded water causes stir at congress

Packs of mini bottled water branded with the image of NDC chairman aspirant Kofi Portuphy is causing a stir at the ongoing national executive elections of the party in Kumasi in the Ashanti region.

The bottled water which has a miniature photo and an endorsement thumbprint of the NADMO boss has been in circulation at the 8th congress of the ruling party at the Baba Yara Stadium since morning.

However, the electoral committee of the party has ordered security officials on the congress grounds to immediately seize such bottles and prevent delegates from drinking that branded water.

According to the committee, the act amounts to some subtle attempts at campaigning during voting, which is not allowed.

Delegates of the governing party are currently voting to elect new national executives to steer the affairs of the party for the next four years.

Among the key positions being contested for are, the National chairman, General Secretary, National organiser, vice chairmen, deputy general secretary, and propaganda secretary.
