NDC lauds whistleblowers over arrest of 3 SA nationals

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has commended the whistleblowers whose tip-of led to the arrest of three South African ex police officers said to be engaging in acts that threatens the country’s security.

It has however, urged Ghanaians to allow the security agencies to do their work and not to politicized the issue which has been linked to the New Patriotic Party.

The Bureau of National Investigation (BNI) arrested the three South African former police officers in the Central Region where they were allegedly training some locals.

The three, 54-year-old Major Ahmed Shaik Hazis (Rtd.), 39-year–old WO/ Denver Dwayhe Naidu (Rtd.) and 45-year-old Captain Mlungiseleli Jokani (Rtd.), were picked up on Sunday March 20, 2016 at El Capitano Hotel in Agona Duakwa in the Central Region.

Speaking on the issue on Onua 95.1FM, the National Organizer of the NDC, Kofi Adams urged all to condemn the action of the New Patriotic Party for bringing into the country the three ex-police officers.

He said it is unlawful for such people to enter the country to carry out training, noting Ghanaians must speak against it because no one knows the conditions under which the three were brought into the country.

Mr Adams said “I am praying that we shall not give any political party the opportunity to shelve the issue because it is about security”.

Responding, the Deputy General Secretary of the NPP, Nana Obiri Boahene, argued that in so far as private security companies can bring people from outside Ghana to train their personnel, there was nothing wrong in bringing people from South Africa into the country to train their security personnel.

Nana Obiri Boahene said what is important is for Ghanaians to investigate whether the three are a threat to the country’s security and not to throw dust into the eyes of the people.
