NDC Gang Declare war On “Daily Guide”

Adherents of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Tuesday, declared war on the publishers of Daily Guide, an Accra private newspaper, for daring to write what they termed, ?damaging articles about the party, and, in particular, its founder, Flight Lieutenant Jerry John Rawlings.?

It all began when, during question time, at the end of the speech read by the NDC flagbearer, Prof. John Evans Atta Mills, at a day?s forum held at the National Theatre in Accra, a certain Mohammed Aboagye a Joy fm reporter in Tamale, and a self-confessed NDC activists, took the floor and recounted an incident in which he alleged that petrol was poured on him after he had made a contribution on the Justice Fm station in Tamale.

According to him, it was New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporters who had attempted to lynch him and not NDC as the paper?s reporter, Baby Ansabah, had imputed in a front page story carried in the Daily Guide issue on Friday, February 27, 2004.

After his presentation, the party supporters speculatively sought out the presence of the said Baby Ansabah, amidst the pouring of various expletive and invective.

Mr Mohammed Aboagye, had told the gathering that in view of the gross distortion of the facts regarding what happened to him, he was demanding the Baby Ansabah, the Deputy Editor of Daily Guide, apologise to him. He stated ?I expect him to honourably apologise for the lies he levelled against me.? Aboagye pointed out that he was surprised a trained journalist was doing this to him, stressing, ?I am not a trained Journalist, but anytime I report, I try to be fair.?

He went on to shower praises on personalities like the MP for Choggu Tishigu, Alhaji Abubakari Sumani, Hon John Mahama and Mr Victor Smith, whom he described as the ?Iron man?, for commiserating with him in his moments of trauma, since he could have died in the purported attack.
