NDC expresses appreciation to all for successful congress

The ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), has conveyed its appreciation to delegates for the massive support and goodwill shown at the special congress held at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.

This was contained in a press statement signed by the Ashanti Regional Chairman, Mr. Yaw Owusu Obimpeh, in Kumasi on Sunday.

The congress was held following the demise of Professor John Atta Mills, which saw the swearing in of Mr. John Dramani Mahama then Vice President as President of the nation.

Delegates at the congress voted overwhelmingly to confirm the nomination of President John Dramani Mahama as the party’s flag-bearer for the December 2012 polls.

The Party said it was deeply touched and humbled by the enthusiastic reception the chiefs and people in Asanteman gave to the NDC at the congress.

It said the level of maturity and comportment by all, contributed to the tremendous success of the event.

“This was yet another demonstration that the country’s democracy is indeed growing.”

The party congratulated the security agencies, the media, medical personnel and the others, for the good job they did.

The statement said the NDC was confident that Ghanaians would continue to work together to protect the peace, unity and political stability that had won for the nation international praise and admiration.

It prayed for God’s blessing and abundant mercies as the nation prepared to go to the polls in December.
