National Catholic Secretariat donates to Pantang Hospital

The National Catholic Secretariat (NCS) of the Catholic Bishops Conference has presented food items worth GH?3,000 to the Pantang Hospital.

The items were 10 bags of yellow corn powder, 10 bags of rice, two bags of sugar, and 14 packets of toilet rolls and three gallons of pine sol disinfectants, as well as a cheque for GH?3,000.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Very Reverend Father Nicholas Afriyie, Secretary General of the NCS, said the hospital was in a deplorable state and needed support to survive.

He said the donation was to give hope to the patients and urged the public not to relent in supporting the hospital both physically, financially and through prayers.

Mr. Alex Kissi, the Assistant Hospital Administrator who received the items, said the donation had come at the appropriate time because the hospital was going through difficult times.

He said assistance to the hospital was not forthcoming as expected since Government could not meet the needs of all institutions.

Mr. Kissi said some of the patients depended solely on the hospital for survival and appealed to corporate bodies, donor agencies and the public for assistance.**
