Nana Addo must emulate Kufuor’s leadership style – Hilda Addo

A former NPP Member of Parliament for Kwadaso in the Ashanti region, Hilda Addo has urged flagbearer of the party, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, to emulate the leadership skills of former President John Agyekum Kufuor to unite the party.

According to Madam Addo, the flagbearer has failed as a leader to unite the NPP since the party’s internal bickering started after the election of Paul Afoko as national chairman over a year ago.

“I believe that Nana Akufo-Addo alone can come out and solve this problem. During Kufuor’s time, all wasn’t well, there were factions but with his leadership style he brought everybody on board…and we won the elections in 2004.

“I’m saying Nana Akufo-Addo can do same, I am not saying he should copy Kufuor’s style but he is lucky to have someone before him who was once a president so if he did something very good that is worth emulating then why not,” Madam Addo told host of Morning Starr Nii Arday Clegg on Thursday.

The former MP also stated that she is surprised that an astute lawyer like Nana Addo has failed to condemn the unconstitutional suspension of Afoko by the party’s National Executive Committee.

“Nana, a big time lawyer that I respect so much in Ghana, a lawyer at his level, if I can analyse and know that Mr. Blay breached an article then I believe Nana [Addo] knows better so the whole thing is a nonstarter”.

She also alleged that the suspension of Afoko is a grand scheme by some members of the party including acting National Chairman Afoko and Ayisi Boateng to get him out and cover up rot in the party.
