NADMO donates relief items to CTI

Kumasi, June 25, GNA – The National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) on Thursday donated relief items worth thousands of Ghana Cedis to the Catholic Technical Institute (CTI) at Buokrom in Kumasi. The items included 150 students’ mattresses, 100 blankets, 10 packets of roofing sheets, 50 bags of rice, 100 drinking cups and 100 plates. Fire gutted the school two weeks ago, destroying property worth thousands of Ghana cedis. Presenting the items, Mr. Kofi Opoku- Manu, Ashanti Regional Minister, said the incident was pathetic and expressed the hope that the items would help ease pressure on the school.

He urged the school authorities to always ensure that all electrical gadgets were put off at the dormitories during class hours. Rev. Monsignor Douglas Peters, Vicar-General of the Catholic Archdiocese of Kumasi, who received the items on behalf of the school, thanked the NADMO for their generosity and prayed that such an incident would not occur again. 25 June 09
