Modify your outmoded UP propaganda strategies NPP – Ankrah

Miss Vivian Ankrah, Greater Accra Women Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has called on the leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to stop using their outmoded Unity Party (UP) propaganda and misleading strategies.

In an interview with the GNA, she said the New Patriotic Party running-mate, Dr Mahamadu Bawumia’s assertion that Ghanaians are living under hard times compounded by hikes in the prices of foodstuffs, goods and services; since the inception of Professor Mills administration are totally untrue.

Miss Ankrah said what Dr Bawumia forgot to know was that when ex-President Rawlings handed over to the NPP Administration fuel price was 6,000 old cedis but ex-President Kufuor handed over to President Atta Mills with fuel price rising to 54,000 old cedis.

She said the fuel price increase at that time caused price increases of foodstuffs, goods and services but Dr Bawumia who was then the Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana at the time did not come out to make any statement on the economy.

She said the NPP Administration left a TOR dept unpaid after they have created TOR Recovery Levy with the view of levying Ghanaians to clear the dept but failed to do so.

Miss Ankrah said NPP should change their propaganda style since those methods which were used by their ancestors were no longer relevant to the youth of today, and rather place much emphasis on ideals, principles, truths and values.

She said the NDC Government has demonstrated beyond all doubts in providing social amenities and that Professor Mills is not vindictive in his allocation of resources to areas that even share different political belief.

She expressed unhappiness that politics in the country had been reduced to lies and insults, adding that NDC Government would not be distracted from its commitments to pursue its objectives by the comments of the NPP.

“The NPP has seen the signs of losing the 2012 elections and had resorted to baseless allegations because they have nothing to tell the people,” she added.

Miss Ankrah took the opportunity to welcome the women organisers of the defunct Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) into the NDC, and said this would ensure total victory in the coming elections.**
