Minister expresses worry about fibre cuts

Dr Omane Boamah, Minister of Communications, has expressed worry about fibre cuts belonging to telecommunication companies.

He said the cuts affect the operations and services provided by mobile telephone companies to their customers.

Dr Boamah made this known when he visited the Tetteh Quarshie Operation Switch and Data Centre of MTN-Ghana Limited in Accra.

His visit was part of a tour to mobile telephone companies to ascertain first hand information on their operations.

He said at a recent meeting at the Ministry of Communication that the telecom companies have raised the issue of fibre cuts as a major challenge to the industry.

Dr Boamah noted that the problem is of great concern to National Security.

Mr Michael Ikpoki, Managing Director of MTN-Ghana, said the company is ready to partner Government to address the challenges of fibre cuts in the industry which is the major challenge of the telecom companies.
