Minister explains inability to appoint director of medical service.

The Minister for Health Dr. Eunice Brookman Amissah has stated that the supposed delay in appointing a Director General for the Ghana Health Service, despite the passing of the Health Services Bill, is primarily because the necessary structures for the smooth implementation of the Ghana Health Service scheme have not been put in place as yet. Speaking to JOYFM Dr. Brookman Amissah explained that issues like conditions of service, job descriptions and remuneration have to be put in place before a substantive one could be appointed. The Minister noted the service would be performing a different role from the Ministry modalities are being worked out for the envisaged placements. She also revealed that proposals for the Ghana Health Service have been sent to the President for study by cabinet.
