Minister appeals to China to inject more cash into rural electrification

Accra, Aug. 21, GNA – Mr Felix Owusu-Agyapong, Minister of Energy, on Thursday called on the Chinese government to partner local banks to inject more capital into the Ghana’s rural electrification projects. He noted that south-south cooperation especially with China had yielded a lot of development results and the energy sector was one area, which needed a boost to avert any reoccurrence of power interruption in the future.

Mr Owusu-Agyapong said this when he received Mr Wenzhe Yu, the Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, to discuss ways of ensuring stronger partnership especially in the exploration of the country’s oil find. Mr Yu promised his country’s continual support to Ghana to entrench the relationship and noted that the Bui Dam was one area of mutual benefit.

On the Oil, he called for massive capital injection and other resources to maximize profit and pledged that “China will be willing to partner in its exploration”.
