My Life Fair, a non-governmental organisation (NGO) based in Tamale, has organised a two -day medical outreach programme in the Bongo District of the Upper East Region.
The NGO, which had as part of its medical team, four doctors, four nurses and dispensary staff, diagnosed various ailments such as diabetes, blood pressure, malaria and typhoid.
Mr Justice Kanor Tetteh, Project Manager of the NGO, told the media in Bongo that said the outreach programme would target 600 people in Bongo and Namoo communities.
He said apart from the medical outreach services his outfit has been undertaking with support from the Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, it also provides livelihood support to deprived persons, particularly widows.
Mr Alexis Ayamdor, District Chief Executive said the programme would help complement government’s efforts in health delivery and appealed to the NGO to reach out to more deprived communities in the area.
He said the District Assembly has formed a consortium of NGOs and called on the My Life Fair to join the body to avoid duplication of functions and resources.
Many beneficiaries of the programme confirmed that it was difficult for them to access health facilities and expressed appreciation to My Life Fair for the support.
