Mason in custody for stealing goats

Cape Coast, June 8, GNA – A Circuit Court in Cape Coast presided over by Mr Samuel Asare Nyarko on Tuesday remanded Kofi Mensah Yeboah, a mason, in prison custody for stealing goats.

He pleaded not guilty on four counts of stealing.

He told the court that he found the animals dead in a gutter in his vicinity.

Prosecuting, Inspector Samuel Amoako said on Tuesday May 31, the accused went to Kwaprow, a suburb of Cape Coast and stole four goats from different pens, killed them instantly and packed them into 2 sacks.

Inspector Amoako said the accused picked a taxi from the University of Cape Coast (UCC) Taxi Rank to town but on reaching the UCC East Gate, the security guards inspected the vehicle and in the process of questioning the accused on how he came by the animals, he took to his heels.

He said the security guards chased, arrested and handed him over to the police and during interrogations he admitted the offence.

Inspector Amoako said the dead animals were identified by their owners.
