Martin Amidu: Why should i be jealous of a criminal?

“… How can I be jealous of a criminal? We are jealous of somebody who is clean, honest, law abiding, working in accordance with the law to unravel crime; not somebody who has broken the law…how can you be jealous of such a fellow? I must be mad to be jealous of a criminal….I am jealous of honest, people of integrity….” says Former Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Martin A.B.K Amidu, who is obviously not ready to throw in the towel.

The former Attorney General and Ace Journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas has been in the news lately, trying to outrun each other in a heated argument on the latest Judicial Corruption scandal.

Mr Martin Amidu is questioning the kind of method used by the ace journalist in his investigative piece titled “Ghana in the Eyes of God”.

His (Amidu) first article accused government of collaborating with Anas to carry out the investigation which ended up protecting some corrupt politicians.

Even though Anas and the government came out to debunk the allegation, Martin Amidu released another statement adding more heat to the argument and shifting the burden of proof to the Tiger Eye CEO. The argument has been going back and forth since then.

Martin Amidu reacting to a text message which sought to accuse him of being jealous of the ace journalist during an interview on Citi FM eyewitness news said: “How can I be jealous of a criminal? We are jealous of somebody who is clean, honest, law abiding, working in accordance with the law to unravel crime; not somebody who has broken the law…how can you be jealous of such a fellow? I must be mad to be jealous of a criminal….I am jealous of honest, people of integrity….”

According to him, he has the right to call Anas a criminal because “the one who will prove it is the government, and it is the government who has collaborated with him…so I can call him that because if the person who is supposed to prosecute him has been compromised, I will say what I want. If he thinks he’s been defamed, he should go to the court and I will meet him there and I will prove ditto ditto that he has no character to be defamed.”

The man popularly known as Citizen Vigilante reiterated his argument that TigerEye P.I“is unlawfully operating as private investigation organizations in Ghana without being licensed and permitted by the Minister of the Interior to carry on the business of private investigations”.
