Man jailed 180 days for stealing a sheep

The Nyinahin Magistrates’ Court has sentenced an unemployed man, caught with a stolen sheep, to 180 days imprisonment.

Kwaku Bariga was convicted after he pleaded guilty to the offence.

Police Chief Inspector Daniel Otabil, told the court that the crime was committed on July 24, at Adobewura, a farming community in the Atwima-Mponua District.

The convict sneaked into a pen and stole the sheep.

He first hid the animal in the bush and then engaged the services of a driver to transport it in his taxi to Bontomuruso, but the driver became suspicious and drove Bariga together with the ram to the police station.

It was during police investigations that the owner, Mallam Issifu Ibrahim came forward to identify it.
