Man, 60, defiles 6-year-old girl

Akpe Narh, 60, is in the grips of the Koforidua Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Ghana Police Service for allegedly defiling a six-year-old girl.

The incident occurred at Azza, a community near Nkurakan in the Yilo Krobo District of the Eastern region.

Briefing the Daily Heritage, DSP Eunice Annor, the Eastern regional officer in charge of DOVSSU explained that the suspect went to the house of the victim in the absence of her parents and forcibly had sex with her.

According to her, when the suspect got to the house and realized that the victim was alone in the room, he sneaked into the room, held the mouth of the victim with his palm and sexually assaulted his victim.

However, luck eluded the suspect when the mother of the victim appeared in the room and caught him committing the act.

She shouted for help, and the father and other residents were attracted to the scene leading to the arrest of the suspect. He was later handed over to the police and admitted the offence when interrogated, with an explanation that he was drunk and, therefore, must be forgiven.

DSP Annor told the paper that, the suspect is being processed for court as soon as possible. She added that the victim has been sent to the hospital for medical confirmation report and treatment.

DSP Annor advised parents not to leave their children alone in the house, but rather give them to trusted persons who can take good care of them in their absence.
