Mali Coach Vows To Beat Ghana In Race For World Cup Spot

Mali head coach Tom Saintfiet has declared that his side will do “everything possible” to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup ahead of Ghana.

Speaking ahead of Monday’s crunch qualifier in Accra, the Belgian coach said his team were fully focused on seizing the initiative in what is shaping up to be one of the tightest battles in the group.

“We will do everything possible to qualify for the World Cup ahead of Ghana,” Saintfiet said. “This team has the quality, the hunger and the unity to achieve it.”

The Eagles, who arrived in Ghana over the weekend, are unbeaten in their last fixtures and believe they can cause an upset against the Black Stars on their own turf.

Ghana, meanwhile, are under pressure to respond after recent stumbles, with head coach Otto Addo insisting his side remain determined to keep their World Cup dream alive.

The fixture at the Accra Sports Stadium is already being billed as a decisive clash. For Mali, it represents a chance to edge closer to their first-ever World Cup appearance, while for Ghana it is about restoring pride and keeping faith with millions of supporters.

Kick-off is scheduled for Monday, 8 September.
