Mahama orders AG to overhaul justice department

President John Mahama has directed the minister of Justice and Attorney General to immediately embark on reforms at the AG’s department in order to make it more effective.

The AG has also been instructed to put in place mechanisms to ensure that lawyers at the department go to court to defend government cases.

The move is expected to end the streak of avoidable losses suffered by successive governments in court as a result of institutional failure.

Addressing the media at the Flagstaff House today deputy minister of Information and Media Relations Murtala Muhammed said the government will also improve funding to the AG’s department.
