Mahama in Addis Ababa for AU meeting

President John Mahama is in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, for the 26th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union.

The leaders are meeting on the theme, “2016: African Year of Human Rights with a particular focus on Women Rights”.

The meeting will also consider reports and the draft decisions of the Peace and Security Council, the NEPAD Heads of State and Government Orientation Committee, the Committee of 10 on UN Reforms and the African Peer Review Mechanism.

Other reports will be from the High Level Committee on the Post-2015 Development Agenda and the Committee of African Heads of State and Government on Climate Change.

Also in Addis Ababa is the First Lady, Mrs. Lordina Dramani Mahama, who will be presiding over the meetings of the Organisation of African First Ladies Against HIV & AIDS in her capacity as President of the Organisation.

President Mahama and the First Lady will return home on Sunday.
