Mahama handed keys to Abidjan

Ghana’s President, John Dramani Mahama was on Wednesday, June 1, handed the key to the City of Abidjan and made an honorary citizen of Côte d’Ivoire by his counterpart Alassane Ouattara.

Mahama was also decorated with the highest Ivorian National Award at a State Dinner at the Presidential Palace Wednesday night.

These honours were conferred on Mr Mahama during his two-day official Visit to the Francophone neighbour.

President Mahama held bilateral talks with President Ouattara in Abidjan. Speaking at a joint press conference after their meeting, the two leaders said their discussions centered on boosting economic activities between the two countries, spearheading the regional integration efforts of the sub-region, and also spoke about how to amicably resolve the maritime border issues as well as sub-regional security.

Mr Ouattara congratulated Mr Mahama for his leadership and impactful tenure as Chair of ECOWAS noting that he demonstrated a clear commitment to the integration efforts and brought his influence to bear on a number of issues in the sub-region.

President John Mahama was accompanied by his wife Lordina Dramani Mahama, Attorney General Marietta Brew Appiah-Opong, Interior Minister Prosper Douglas Bani, National Security Adviser Baba Kamarama and a Member of the Council of State, Lt. Gen. Seth Obeng (Rtd).

The others are Deputy Minister for Transport Joyce Bawah Mogtari, Deputy Minister for Power John Abdulai Jinapor, Deputy Minister for Roads & Highways Isaac Adjei Mensah and the Omanhene of Nsein Traditional Area, Awulae Agyefi Kwame II.
