Mahama consoles Upper West NDC chair

President John Dramani Mahama has joined the family of the Upper West regional chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Alhaji Issahaku Malik on the death of his wife, Hajia Aisha Malik last Thursday.

She passed on at the Korle-bu Teaching Hospital following a protracted illness.

President Mahama on his way to the funeral of the Bolewura at Bole in the Northern Region made a brief stopover at Wa-Limanyiri in the Wa Municipality of the Upper West Region to console the NDC regional chairman and his family.

People from all walks of life thronged the forecourt of the Limanyiri Mosque to catch a glimpse of the president upon hearing that he will be calling on the family.

He arrived there amid cheers and chants of “Edee bee keke” from both the young and the old.

President Mahama said he heard about the death of Hajia Aisha in Accra and would have loved to join them there but other official engagements didn’t allow him to do so.

He then decided to come to Wa to meet, join and console them on the demise of the woman.

He was full of praise to the Upper West Regional Chairman of the NDC, Alhaji Issahaku Malik for the work done for the party over the years.

He remarked that Alhaji Malik is an astute politician and a pillar for the NDC over the years, especially in the last elections.

President Mahama was accompanied there by the first lady, Lordina Mahama, Member of Parliament for Wa Central, Abdul Rashid Hassan Pelpuo.

Hajia Aisha is survived by one son, Anwar Sadat Malik.
