Agona Bobikuma, Nov. 3, GNA- Nurses at the Upper Bobikuma Health Centre have appealed for police protection from alleged death threat by armed robbers.
Mrs Lydia Tawiah, Midwife in charge of the health centre said last Sunday at Upper Bobikuma she received a letter addressed to her from some people who described themselves in the letter as robbers. Mrs Tawiah said on Saturday November 1, at about 0800 hours a letter was brought from Agona Swedru hospital where the nurses collect their mails.
She said the letter stated that some directors of health service in Cape Coast have allegedly employed the armed robbers to come and kill her for no apparent reason.
She further stated that some part of the letter also read that she as the midwife, should leave the Agona District within 10 months or they will kill her.
Mrs Tawiah said following the threats, she has applied to be transferred from the district while the letter has been sent to the Upper Bobikuma Police for investigations.
Mrs Tawiah has therefore called on the security agencies especially the police to give her and other nurses, security for them to go about their duties peacefully.
When the Ghana News Agency (GNA) contacted the Bobikuma Police, they confirmed that such a letter had been received from the midwife and that investigations are continuing. 03 Nov 03
