Let’s celebrate Christmas in peace – NHC

Kumasi, Dec. 24, GNA – The National House of Chiefs (NHC) has urged Ghanaians to use the period of Christmas to renew their resolve to live in total peace and sense of patriotism. It said the significance of Christmas was the revelation of God’s lo= ve to mankind and therefore the message is 93love for our neighbours, love fo= r our country and love which permeates all our activities and brings peace to our society.” This was contained in the House’s Seasonal Greetings to the nation, signed by the acting Registrar, Mr R.S. Takyi in Kumasi.

The chiefs asked the people to unite and pray for prosperity, progress and peace to thrive in the country, as they prepared to usher in the New Year.

They expressed concern about the growing intolerance among the politicians, a development that was unhealthy for the nation’s democracy. “It is in this vein that we wish to appeal to all and sundry to esch= ew political insults in order not to create a situation, which may result in anarchy and chaos in the country.” The House added its voice to the appeal to all eligible voters to exercise their franchise in the December 28 District Level elections.
