Leaked tape saga: Anta’s reaction unconvincing – Kweku Baako

Veteran journalist Kweku Baako Junior, has advised the former MCE for Tamale, Muhammed Amin Anta to do more to clear his name in the leaked tape suggesting that he was induced to declare support for NPP flagbearer aspirant, Nana Akufo-Addo in the party’s upcoming presidential primaries.

According to him, the initial reaction of the former Northern regional deputy minister is feeble and unconvincing.

On the said tape, Anta, the once staunch supporter of Akufo-Addo’s archrival (Alan Kyerematen), is heard saying the former Attorney General, who is seeking to lead the party into a third consecutive national elections, “surprised me with US$5,000, offered me three positions to choose from and that I was following the crowd and would therefore not openly campaign for him.”

The audio tape started circulating days after Anta declared support for Akufo-Addo against the former Minister of Trade and Industries, whom he supported in previous races.

He has subsequently described the tape as mischievous and out of context.

However, speaking on Peace FM Wednesday, the Editor-In-Chief of the Crusading Guide newspaper said the energy expert must explain further to exonerate himself.

“He has a difficulty, the timeline of that tape doesn’t click. He has to explain further, it doesn’t help his credibility.

“He has to come again with better and further particulars. At what point did he take the $5000. When and why exactly was the money given to him,” he queried.
