Labourer sentenced to six years imprisonment

Twifo Praso (C/R), Sept 27, GNA – Kwadwo Obiri, a 30-year-old farm labourer from Twifo Mampong, was last Thursday sentenced to six years imprisonment for unlawful entry, causing harm, causing damage and stealing by a district magistrate’s court at Twifo-Praso.

The convict, Kwadwo Obiri, pleaded guilty to all the charges. Chief Inspector George Okine told the court that in May, one Mr Samuel Quainoo, a cocoa-purchasing clerk, engaged Obiri and two others to weed his farm for a fee of 300,000.00 cedis.

After completion of the work, Mr Quainoo, gave them 200,000.00 cedis, leaving a balance of 100,000 cedis and on August 19, Obiri went to him to demand the balance.

This sparked off a quarrel between them and in the process the convict hit Mr Quainoo on the head with a piece of wood, rendering him unconscious.

Obiri then entered Mr Quainoo’s room and stole a wireless set, wristwatch and 156,000.00 cedis. 27 Sept 05
