Organised Labour has suspended its road map of industrial actions after staging a nationwide demonstration on Wednesday January 20.
This is to provide ample time for government to find an amicable solution to demands by Organised Labour for a reduction in utility tariffs, taxes and fuel prices.
This decision was arrived at after three meetings with government ended inconclusively. After its last meeting held Thursday January 21, General Secretary of the Industrial and Commercial Workers Union, Solomon Kotei said Organised Labour is making some progress with government on its demands.
“There is some commitment from government indicating that they are willing to look at us from where we are coming from,” Mr Kotei said.
According to him, the posture of the Minister of Finance and his response is an indication that negotiations are drawing to a close.
“The movement has been made and some better conclusion is expected on Tuesday,” he added.
Meanwhile, Minister of Employment and Labour Relations, Haruna Iddrisu has said that government would provide relief to consumers and would communicate the package to Organised Labour at its next meeting on Tuesday January 26.
