Kuffour fights off armed thugs

DUROSIMI THOMAS, ACCRA

Ghana defender Samuel Osei Kuffour was lucky to escape with only a cut hand after a struggle with armed robbers at his Accra home.

The Bayern Munich man said three armed robbers broke into his house on New Year’s Eve and escaped with his credit card and some foreign currency.

The vice-captain of the national team, the Black Stars, said he was alerted to the thieves by an unusual noise inside his bedroom.

With the help of his brothers, the robbers were disarmed. One was shot in the arm, but still managed to escape with the others. The police are investigating the matter.

Kuffour will travel to Cape Coast today to join the Black Stars in their preparations for the African Nations Cup finals.
