Manfo (Ash), Aug. 12, GNA – Kuapa Kokoo Company Limited, has presented four million cedis to the chiefs and people of Manfo in the Ahafo-Ano North District in Ashanti in support of a Small Water Project for the community.

Mr Emmanuel Ampofo, Area Manager, in making the presentation said the management of the company considered good drinking water as a source of good health, hence their quick response to the appeal by the community for help.

He said the contribution of cocoa farmers in the area to the cocoa industry and for that matter, the economy was quite appreciable and promised the company’s readiness to assist them to improve upon their standard of living.

Nana Akuamoah Boateng, Krontihene of Manfo, who deputised for Nana Kwame Ntim, Omanhene of the traditional area in receiving the money, thanked the company for its timely support.

He said the money would help the community to raise 100 million cedis, which was the five per cent of their contribution towards the project, being funded by the International Development Agency (IDA) at the cost of the two billion cedis.

Nana Boateng appealed to other cocoa buying companies operating in the area to emulate the example of Kuapa Kokoo and assist them to get the needed funds for the project.
