Kuagbenu: ‘I’m still at post’

Mr Vincent Kuagbenu has said he is still at post as the Chief Executive of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), despite a press statement signed by the Chief of Staff which said he is to report to the presidency for reassigning.

“I’m still in office and working,” he told Kojo Yankson on Joy FM’s Super Morning on Wednesday, December 2, 2015.

“I have not received any communication from the presidency to the effect that I have been reassigned, and if I receive, I’ll gladly move because public service is not a family business.

“I have worked in countless organisations in my life, and I think it’s an opportunity for me to work in this capacity,” he said.

According to him, President John Mahama has faith in him, thus his assignment to the YEA.

“As we speak, I’m still a presidential aide. I am still paid by the president as a presidential aide. I’m still enjoying the facilities as a presidential aide. I’ve not been confirmed as the CEO of the Youth Employment Agency, so, I can be redeployed anywhere, anytime and I can’t question that.

“Please, I have not received any communication from the president about my reassignment. I’m hearing all of this on radio. And, so, I will not be able to judge whether it is based on incompetence or whatever, but I can assure you that I am not an incompetent person,” he mentioned.

According to a statement dated November 27, 2015, to announce his dismissal from the YEA, “His Excellency the President has identified Mr. Kobina Beecham to be considered for appointment as the Chief Executive of the Youth Employment Agency.”

Mr. Kuagbenu is to “hand over comprehensively to him by Tuesday, December 8, 2015” and return to the presidency to be reassigned.

Prior to his role at YEA, he had served as the boss of the National Service Secretariat (NSS) and later took charge of registration of government vehicles at the presidency.
