Kpemali clashes leave three persons dead

Three persons have been reported dead following Wednesday’s renewed clashes between some Konkombas and Bimobas at Kpemali, a farming community near Nakpanduri in the northern region.

A youth leader, Tibey Ali in an interview confirmed the death toll saying “One Bimoba has been killed and two Konkombas also dead.”

According to him, the situation has created problems for residents of Nakpanduri Township.

He complained about some alleged security brutalities in the area on Thursday.

“This is what we don’t understand, they said you should come and maintain peace and now you have come to take one part of the area and beating people all over (Bimobas).”

He challenged the security personnel to concentrate on the troubled zone (Kpemali) and stop harassing residents of Nakpanduri.

Some frightened residents of the area have sought refuge at the Nakpanduri scarps where notorious Armed Robber Johnson Kombian was carrying out his operations.

Meanwhile, the Member of Parliament for Bunkprugu constituency, Hon. Solomon Boa has called for calm in the area.

“I have realized that the clash was limited to only Kpemali involving some Konkombas and Bimobas over a parcel of land and I want it to be treated as such.”

Hon. Boa reminded his kinsmen of the need to cease fire.

“I want to remind the two factions that we come from the same ancestry and so there is no need fighting among ourselves, we inter-marry and do everything together, we don’t have to allow the devil to divide us.”
