The Kotokuraba Central Market at Cape Coast has been re-opened for trading activities after a three-week closure. This follows the completion of rehabilitation work on the security lighting system, and the construction of drains and concrete slabs. The Deputy Central Regional Minister, Mr.. H.Q. Jehu Appiah inspected work done and commended the contractor, Mr.. John Sahyoun for completing it ahead of schedule. He said the market will be cleaned and fumigated before trading there resumes. Mr.. Jehu Appiah explained that the Cape Coast Municipal Assembly’s decision to re-register traders operating in the market will help it to gather data for budgeting and planning purposes. The exercise should, therefore, not be misconstrued as a means of victimising traders. He said the Assembly plans to hold a meeting with the market women to discuss funding issues and a time table for the reconstruction of the market. The Kotokuraba Market was built about 65 years ago. Structural defects including cracks on the walls and leaking roofs need to be repaired. gri
