Asante Kotoko’s Communications Director, Sarfo Duku, has pushed back against growing criticism of the club’s recent performances, insisting that the absence of silverware under the current management should not be labelled a failure.
Speaking to Akoma FM, Duku argued that expectations surrounding the Porcupine Warriors are often heightened because of the club’s rich history and status in Ghanaian football.
“Failure would be too harsh,” he said. “Maybe it’s because of the expectations and stature of Kotoko. You can’t always expect to win the league every season. But finishing in the top three or so cannot be described as failure.”
Kotoko have remained competitive in the Ghana Premier League in recent seasons but have fallen short of reclaiming the title, prompting criticism from some sections of their supporters.
Duku, however, maintained that progress cannot be measured only by trophies, stressing that the club continues to build a stable foundation.
The comments come at a time when Kotoko are pushing to keep pace with the league leaders, with pressure mounting for the team to translate strong performances into tangible success.
