KNUST “Katanga” Hall inaugurates GH¢35,000 data centre

A GH¢35,000.00 Data Centre established for the University Hall (Katanga) of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has been inaugurated at a ceremony in Kumasi.

It was funded by the Ashcell Limited, a key distributor of MTN Ghana products, and would serve the twin-purpose of an internet café and sales point for MTN products.

The inauguration coincided with the launch of the Golden Jubilee celebration of the Hall.

Professor William Otoo Ellis, the Vice-Chancellor, hailed the facility saying it would significantly help the students to access the internet.

He commended Ashcell Limited and MTN Ghana for the support and said he was confident the partnership between the communication network and the university would continue to grow and be strengthened.

Madam Adwoa Afrakoma Baah Obeng, MTN’s Regional Branch Manager, said the project was part of their corporate social responsibility.

She announced plans to provide the Hall with a GH¢28,000.00 mechanized borehole.
