KMA lays good foundation for development

Kumasi, Dec 20, GNA- Mr Maxwell Kofi Jumah, Chief Executive of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), said at the weekend that the Assembly had laid a solid foundation during the last four years, to facilitate the speedy development of the Metropolis.

He stressed: “Even though I will not be around next year as the Metropolitan Chief Executive, the grounds have been prepared for smooth take-off of many development projects.”

Mr Jumah, who is the Member of Parliament- elect for Asokwa, was speaking as the Patron of the newly inaugurated Kumasi Gentle Club, a benevolent society.

The other patrons of the club are President John Agyekum Kufuor, Oheneba Kwame Kyeretwie, Apagyahene (Divisional Chief of Kumasi) and Alhaji Akwasi Yeboah, Kwabre District Chief Executive.

Mr Jumah said some of the projects to take-off next year were the construction of interchanges at Timber Gardens at Asokwa, Anloga Junction, Sofoline and Suame Roundabouts to ease traffic. Mr Jumah called on residents to comply with the bye-laws of the KMA to ensure orderliness and discipline in the metropolis.

Alhaji Yeboah, who chaired the function, called for unity among members of the club.

Mr Charles Anarfi, Chairman of the Club, called on members to work within the confines of the Club’s Constitution. An appeal for funds yielded eight million cedis.
