Former Hearts of Oak coach Kim Grant has delivered a stinging assessment of his old club following their goalless draw against newly promoted Hohoe United in the Ghana Premier League opener at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Posting on Facebook, Grant praised Hohoe United for their resilience, particularly after playing with 10 men for the final half hour, describing their defending as “warrior-like.”
But his criticism of Hearts of Oak was scathing. “For a club of this size, this is the level? Not a single proper shot on target in the 2nd half,” he wrote. He lamented what he called poor decision-making, aimless crosses, forced passes and needless turnovers, adding: “This is Hearts of Oak, not side-to-side, no-risk football FC. The badge deserves better.”
The draw has left many Hearts fans disappointed, with expectations high for a strong start to the season. For Hohoe United, however, the result represents a statement of intent in their debut campaign.
