Kente weaver defiles stepdaughter

Kumasi, April 26, GNA – A Kumasi circuit court has remanded a 58-year old kente weaver for defiling his 12-year old step- daughter. The accused, Kwabena Badu, pleaded not guilty and will re-appear on May 9.

Police Chief Inspector Regina Kesewaah told the court that last October, Badu gave a quantity of kente to his wife to be sold in Accra, leaving him and the victim in the house. The prosecutor said the accused person, who sleeps in the same room with the victim, a primary five pupil, invited her to sleep with him in is bed.

The victim obliged and the accused had sex with her and continued with the act for three weeks.

Chief Inspector Kesewaah said the victim never mentioned the incident to her mother on her return, but decided to accompany her to Accra on her next trip.

It was in Accra that the victim narrated the incident to her mother and on their return confronted the husband but he denied having had sex with the stepdaughter.

The wife reported the incident to the Women and Juvenile Unit (WAJU) of the police Service and Badu was arrested. 26 April 05
