Judicial scandal: Justice Mills to submit response Friday

Justice Ivy Heward-Mills, a High Court Judge cited in the judicial bribery scandal, would on Friday, September, 18 submit her final response to the allegations to Mrs Georgina Theodora Wood, the Chief Justice (CJ).

Based on her response, the CJ would determine in accordance with Article 146 (3) of the constitution whether, there was a prima facie case against her. Mrs Justice Heward-Mills, through her Lawyer, John Ndebugri submitted a first response per the transcript presented to her from the audio-visual recording.

Mr Ndebugri told journalists in Accra on Wednesday that they had viewed the eight tapes and had taken copies for further review to enable them submit a final response on Friday.

He said after the submission, his client would wait for the determination of the CJ, whether a prima facie case had been made against her.

Investigative Journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas in a two-year investigative piece, has established the complicity of some 34 judges who have been caught in corrupt activities involving cases they presided over.

At the Judicial Service Administration Block on Wednesday, judges, who came around were Mrs Justice Heward-Mills, Justice Kofi Essel Mensah, and Justice Ernest Obimpeh.

Meanwhile, Justice Essel Mensah has filed his response to the CJ.
